I started Crossfit almost two years ago at 42 with no athletic background.  I had gained a significant amount of weight a year prior due to a thyroid disorder and a very unhealthy lifestyle.  I made a decision to start exercising and to take better care of myself.   I hadn’t been in a gym or worked out since my 20’s.  After trying many different exercise regimens I found Crossfit.   I was intimidated at first. I could barely lift a barbell over my head and forget about bodyweight movements like pull-ups those were impossible.   The only thing I really had going for me was my mobility and my determination.  Joe the head coach at Crossfit 223 took his time to explain every single movement thoroughly and always stressed the importance of proper form.   Everyone at Crossfit 223 made me feel comfortable and gave me the encouragement I needed to get through the tough workouts.

Crossfit has changed my life dramatically in the last two years.   I am no longer obsessed with my weight.  I’m actually 10 lbs heavier since I started Crossfit but my clothes fit better and I am two sizes smaller.  The physical strength I have gained from Crossfit transfers over to my life by giving me confidence and courage.  I am better prepared for the challenges life presents because of Crossfit.   I am in the best shape of my life at 44 years old.  Those pull-ups that were impossible two years ago– well I did 38 in a workout last week.   I am constantly amazed how my fitness level is improving because of Crossfit.  I am grateful to Joe, all of the coaches and athletes at Crossfit 223.  I am blessed to have found a supportive community that keeps pushing me to be the best that I can be.
